New EU definition on CSR mirrors Enterprise 2020 aspirations

25 October 2011, BRUSSELS, Belgium – Today, the European Commission launched its new Communication on CSR for the period 2011-2014. The renewed Communication aims to strengthen EU global leadership on CSR by implementing an intensive Agenda for Action with around 30 proposals for CSR commitments.

CSR Europe respects the political will of the European Commission to reaffirm its global influence on CSR and welcomes the Commission’s intention to cooperate with CSR Europe to review and define the next steps of our Enterprise 2020 initiative: a reference initiative for companies committed to developing innovative business practices and working together with their stakeholders to provide solutions to emerging societal needs.

Companies’ non-financial performance - KÖVET Club


KÖVET-member MOL Group received SAM Gold Class qualification based on its achievements on the field of sustainability. During this Club companies’ non-financial and sustainability will be discussed through MOL Group's example.

TRAINEAST website launched


Project partners of TRAINEAST –  ’Training for the Future in CEE countries’ have developed a webpage aiming to provide good resources in the field of responsibility and sustainability in 5 languages: English, Romanian, Bulgarian, Hungarian and Turkish.

Successful CSR MarketPlace


The second Hungarian CSR Marketplace took place on 2 June 2011 in Budapest. The exhibition was an official event of the Hungarian EU Presidency, the main patron of the event was Tibor Navracsics, Dr., Minister of Public Administration and Justice, Deputy Prime Minister. 

Within the frameworks of the one-day exhibition 47 organizations presented their exemplary CSR good practices and Truly Responsible Enterprise models to more than 450 visitors.

KÖVET’s International environmental project has begun.

NeGOSE, Network for Green Office
Standardization in the EU, co-financed by the European Union, Leonardo da Vinci project was launched on the first of January. The main goal of the NeGOSE is to develop the standardized Green Office guidelines and to introduce the Green Office training packages equipped with an office Ecological Footprint Calculator. This way, the project members aim to contribute to the environmental and human friendly offices’ transformation. The final standards will be tested during the Green Office Competition in which all the 6 partner countries will participate (Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, Romania, Slovenia and Hungary). The standards will be based on the Hungarian Green Office Program developed by KÖVET. 

With the coordination of KÖVET Association from 6 countries, 7 professional
 partners (Groupe One, Stockholm Environmental Institute, TIME-Ecoproject Foundation, Eco-Conseil Enterprise, Eco-Trend Egyesület, Umanotera-The Slovenian Foundation for Sustainable Development) are involved in the project. The first meeting was held in Budapest, Hungary, where all the partners represented themselves and the focus of the negotiations was on the collection of good practices. During this three-day meeting the participant organizations discussed the plan of the first semester’s objectives.  


A Guide to CSR in Europe


CSR Europe's network of national partner organisations has released A Guide to CSR in Europe, providing insight into the state of CSR and current trends and priorities in different European countries. Topics covered include national CSR policies and legislation, key drivers of CSR, main organisational actors, and recent developments in various thematic areas including environment, supply chain, human rights, equal opportunities, community engagement, and sustainable products and services.

BRC project - CSR in the construction sector
The project "BRC Project – Building Responsible Competitiveness" aims to foster Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the construction sector, involving a large number of firms in the sector (from large to small general contractors and medium enterprises that make up the supply chain) and some of the major stakeholders (associations, trade unions, universities).

Which are the Greenest Hungarian Offices in 2010? – Green Office Award Ceremony

KÖVET Association for Sustainable Economies organized the fourth Green Office Exhibition on 18th May 2010 at the Kinnarps House Budapest. At the free exhibition visitors could get to know environmental friendly office products and services, had the chance to listen to professional presentations, furthermore the Green Office Awards of the year were handed over as well.

Dr. Georg Winter Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony

23 March 2010 - Dr. Georg Winter Lifetime Achievement Award was founded by KÖVET Association for Sustainable Economies for the honourable mention of those who work for the harmony of the economy and sustainable development. The award was adjudicated by the Presidium of KÖVET in 2010 and the first awarded was Dr. Tamás Kemény, Director of Foreign Affairs of IFKA, the Hungarian Foundation for the Technological Development of the Industry.
