KÖVET promotes preventive environmental protection and fosters information flow between companies. It develops, disseminates and implements methods that serve environmental as well as economic interests. The long-term goal of the Association is to help companies become sustainable, where sustainability refers to a high level of social and environmental responsibility as well as economic vitality.

The annual budget coomes from tenders and applications - 30%, from services - 55% and from membership-fees - 15%. The staff of the secretariat, including eight environmental and sustainability experts and two administrative colleagues, is responsible for writing tenders, providing services and carrying out tasks for the association. 

KÖVET offers services and other benefits for its member companies. The association is a non-profit organization, and since 1999 it has been operating with a special public benefit status with “missionary” tasks. By their membership fees, member companies also support awareness raising efforts, expert counseling and research activities for a more sustainable economy and society.

Our active members have demonstrated a positive financial balance regarding their membership. About six times the amount of membership-fees is used for missionary task, as KÖVET wins about five times this amount from tenders.
